It’s been forever! I can’t believe that it is October already. Luckily, I love everything about Fall; the leaves changing, all the new flavors, special holidays an so much more. Just wish we had more Fall weather around here!
Thank you to all those who wrote and checked in on me…..I am fine, just busy! I am getting back to posting now that I have internet again. It was like I was living in the dark ages without it.
Chace started school and while the first day was hard, he has adjusted well and loves it. We went from him crying the first day to him asking me to leave. It’s ben quite a change but I am so glad he is socializing, learning and getting used to school. I pick him up and he is singing a new song or explaining the trials and tribulations that 3 and 4 year olds face. Who took what train and what book was read are a really big deal at this age.
I probably should have cut his hair before school began, but time got away from me. I was able to get it cut before picture day though! Thank goodness!
Chace had to be potty trained to begin school and let me tell you, I was worried there for a second, but I managed to potty train him just in time. I have been on and off trying for a long time. I will write soon about what worked and what didn’t because for any parents out there, this may be helpful. I turned to trusty google to find out some sure fire ways to potty train a boy. Luckily it worked!
Harper and I have 4 hours just the two of us, each and every morning. It’s great. I get to spend quality time with her after her morning nap. I usually drop off Chace, then head over to the park and run for as long as I can or as long as Harper will let me. She loves the BOB jogging stroller and tends to fall asleep in it. I run anywhere from 3-5 miles a day now which is so nice. It’s the perfect way to start the day.
I usually run to the store or do the errands that are hard to do with 2 kids in tow. Things like going to Trader Joe’s or Target are especially difficult now that Chace can voice his opinion or reach and grab things from the cart. I would much rather avoid the meltdowns when I say “No” to each and every desire while in those stores. With just Harper, I get in and out with what I need and usually a few extra things as well, much to Daddy’s dismay.
The house is coming along. I have finally unpacked mostly everything. Furniture has been ordered and will be coming next week. We have some things, but not all. I can’t wait until everything is in and we are truly settled. (Not sure that will ever happen, but a girl can hope, right!?)
I have hit a wall, not the marathon wall, but a wall. I had been so good about going for my morning runs with and without both of you but something has changed and I need to get back in my regular routine. I want to get out and run again regularly!
I have used Chace as an excuse since he is not happy after 1-2 miles in the jogging stroller. That will be stopping now.! NO more excuses for me. I have been on a few solo runs but nothing regular and it really bugs me. Running allows me that “alone” time and I feel so much better about myself afterwards. I am a better mom and wife so I need to stop making excuses and get out there and run. It’s best for all!
I will get back to regular posting soon. I have so many updates….Our trip to San Francisco, fun things happening in our lives right now and many more.
It has been some time since I last posted and I apologize. I have been trying to stay consistent but some things have gotten pushed back because I am taking on more things. A lot has been going on and I am trying to juggle so many different things right now.
Chace’s 3rd Birthday was a success. He had a fabulous day and loved every minute of it. He spent it with the people he loves and that is what matters!
A couple days later, we celebrated Kaelyn’s (his cousin) 4th birthday at LegoLand. It was my first time there and it was so much fun. The park was less crowded than other amusement parks which was nice. The weather was beautiful but still hot and the lines were not that long. Chace had so much fun and Harper got to go on a few rides as well. We had great company and the kids had a fantastic time. We didn’t go to the water park this trip, but will some day.
We have been keeping busy around the house and outside as well. It’s all about beating the heat. We get outside early morning and late evening, just enough time to get in some fun play and get the things done that we need to do.
Running has been put on the back burner for me and that is not okay. I need to get back out there and run. It keeps me sane!
I have to get back to planning. We are heading to San Francisco in August for vacation and work. Then, in October a trip to Las Vegas for my best friend’s wedding. I am the maid of honor so I have a lot to plan — bachelorette party, bridal shower and keeping you both busy while I am away. This is all making my life extremely busy. Have to get back to work! More updates coming soon…..
Ran 2.7 miles in the hot sun because I couldn’t get out until Daddy woke up. It was a great run despite being a little hot. I came home drenched in sweat, showered and was still sweating. Time to get in the water to cool off before a BBQ lunch at my sister’s house. Kids get to play (tire themselves out), then nap and reconvene later for fireworks. Can’t wait!
I hope you both grow up and love to do something a little unconventional. While most would take the day off from running outside on a rainy day, I have chosen to go out and run and I have not regretted that decision once. I want you both to be open to try new things and not be afraid of getting out there and doing what you love. It’s a little uncomfortable at the start but once you have felt the drops on your skin and you are comfortable on the pavement (making sure you are not going to slip and fall) it is such an enjoyable run for me. While it may not be for everyone, it is something I love to do. Probably because it doesn’t happen all that much here in sunny southern California. These days I am lucky if there are sprinklers on when I am out running. I have been known to run through those to cool off a bit. I hope you both are not afraid os stepping out of your comfort zone every once and awhile. You never know what you may find.
1. Running and jumping through puddles after watering the plants
2. Random dance parties
3. Pitching a tent in the backyard and watch a movie with popcorn
4. Pajama party
5. Rolling down the grassy hills
6. Somersaults from room to room
7. Riding the quad with Daddy & Uncle Dan
Our weekend started great. I logged a few miles solo which was so nice. The weather was perfect early in the morning so a run was just the right start to my weekend. Then, I had a fun brunch for a friend’s birthday. Chace and Daddy headed out to have some lunch at the local bagel shop while Harper and I dined with our friends at a local restaurant that serves the best zucchini bread. Yum! Harper was so good throughout the lunch but didn’t want to be held by anyone. It’s that “stranger danger” phase. I remember it well with Chace. She was an angel who sat and observed while I chatted and ate. Afterwards she fell asleep immediately and slept for over 2.5 hours which is long for her morning nap. (Please excuse the blurry photo.)
After lunch we ran errands and did a little shopping. We headed home to try and make a movie but ended up skipping it and opting to play outside and have dinner with Momo, Poppy, Shirani, Kaelyn and Kiley. It was a perfect evening to race cars on the driveway and burn off some of the food and energy we had from the day.
Sunday morning we went to the first showing of Monsters University. It was Chace’s first time at the movies and he loved it! He sat on Daddy’s lap and actually sat still the whole time. It was amazing! Aunty, Kaelyn and Kiley came with us and we all had a good time. There was a lot of popcorn consumed and plenty of laughs throughout the movie. Highly recommend it! Someone can’t stop talking about Sully and Mike as if they are his new best friends.
Dinner was a BBQ cooked by Uncle Dan and was delicious: Crab legs, steak, salad, veggies and the sweetest corn on the cob ever.
Couldn’t ask for a better weekend! Now it’s time to get back to our regular weekday routine and I need to get back out and run some more. I am working my way up to get in a full 6 miles which is something I haven’t done in awhile and really need to do. I just love the feeling afterwards and I love setting these mini goals for myself. If only my kids would get on board and be good in the stroller for 60 minutes straight! That is another goal.
We took a trip to Disneyland on Father’s Day because our passes don’t allow us to go at all in July and it was a good way to celebrate.
Successful trip! Any trip that ends up with these two knocked out is a success in my book. We had a great time and the parks were not too crowded. We were able to see two parades, go on countless rides, eat yummy food, share a Ghirardhelli butter pecan ice cream cone. So delicious!
I’ve been making a huge effort to get us out the door for a run every morning. I need this time and I love how it makes my day run so much better. I have to keep it up.
