Every so often I like to update both of you on your current LIKES because it’s fun to see the changes over time. Here is what we all are into these days. Never a dull moment with both of you and I love it!
Harper (15 months old)
– blueberries, persimmon, guava, peas and yogurt and eating it on her own! My Little Miss Independent
– the remote control for anything but not a toy version. It has to be the real thing!
– following around your brother
– playing on the playground at Chace’s school after we pick him up.
– reading the same 3 books over and over again.
Chace (3.5 years old)
– riding your balance bike
– gardening with me
– working on the house projects with Dad
– singing at the top of your lungs anywhere and especially Christmas songs….it’s February!
– running super fast everywhere
– art projects, music class and swinging at school
– still loves the color green, brushing his teeth, pajamas (especially Christmas ones! I see a theme here…..)
Mommy (1 year older than last year)
– Nap time for the kids, not me!
– facials, manicures and pedicures (just can’t go and have them often!)
– Watching whatever shows are taped on the DVR (there are lots now that good shows are back!)
Daddy (1 year younger than Mommy)
– Working out
– Not working
– Watching movies on the ipad while Mommy is watching TV
It’s been forever! I can’t believe that it is October already. Luckily, I love everything about Fall; the leaves changing, all the new flavors, special holidays an so much more. Just wish we had more Fall weather around here!
Thank you to all those who wrote and checked in on me…..I am fine, just busy! I am getting back to posting now that I have internet again. It was like I was living in the dark ages without it.
Chace started school and while the first day was hard, he has adjusted well and loves it. We went from him crying the first day to him asking me to leave. It’s ben quite a change but I am so glad he is socializing, learning and getting used to school. I pick him up and he is singing a new song or explaining the trials and tribulations that 3 and 4 year olds face. Who took what train and what book was read are a really big deal at this age.
I probably should have cut his hair before school began, but time got away from me. I was able to get it cut before picture day though! Thank goodness!
Chace had to be potty trained to begin school and let me tell you, I was worried there for a second, but I managed to potty train him just in time. I have been on and off trying for a long time. I will write soon about what worked and what didn’t because for any parents out there, this may be helpful. I turned to trusty google to find out some sure fire ways to potty train a boy. Luckily it worked!
Harper and I have 4 hours just the two of us, each and every morning. It’s great. I get to spend quality time with her after her morning nap. I usually drop off Chace, then head over to the park and run for as long as I can or as long as Harper will let me. She loves the BOB jogging stroller and tends to fall asleep in it. I run anywhere from 3-5 miles a day now which is so nice. It’s the perfect way to start the day.
I usually run to the store or do the errands that are hard to do with 2 kids in tow. Things like going to Trader Joe’s or Target are especially difficult now that Chace can voice his opinion or reach and grab things from the cart. I would much rather avoid the meltdowns when I say “No” to each and every desire while in those stores. With just Harper, I get in and out with what I need and usually a few extra things as well, much to Daddy’s dismay.
The house is coming along. I have finally unpacked mostly everything. Furniture has been ordered and will be coming next week. We have some things, but not all. I can’t wait until everything is in and we are truly settled. (Not sure that will ever happen, but a girl can hope, right!?)
I have hit a wall, not the marathon wall, but a wall. I had been so good about going for my morning runs with and without both of you but something has changed and I need to get back in my regular routine. I want to get out and run again regularly!
I have used Chace as an excuse since he is not happy after 1-2 miles in the jogging stroller. That will be stopping now.! NO more excuses for me. I have been on a few solo runs but nothing regular and it really bugs me. Running allows me that “alone” time and I feel so much better about myself afterwards. I am a better mom and wife so I need to stop making excuses and get out there and run. It’s best for all!
I will get back to regular posting soon. I have so many updates….Our trip to San Francisco, fun things happening in our lives right now and many more.
It has been some time since I last posted and I apologize. I have been trying to stay consistent but some things have gotten pushed back because I am taking on more things. A lot has been going on and I am trying to juggle so many different things right now.
Chace’s 3rd Birthday was a success. He had a fabulous day and loved every minute of it. He spent it with the people he loves and that is what matters!
A couple days later, we celebrated Kaelyn’s (his cousin) 4th birthday at LegoLand. It was my first time there and it was so much fun. The park was less crowded than other amusement parks which was nice. The weather was beautiful but still hot and the lines were not that long. Chace had so much fun and Harper got to go on a few rides as well. We had great company and the kids had a fantastic time. We didn’t go to the water park this trip, but will some day.
We have been keeping busy around the house and outside as well. It’s all about beating the heat. We get outside early morning and late evening, just enough time to get in some fun play and get the things done that we need to do.
Running has been put on the back burner for me and that is not okay. I need to get back out there and run. It keeps me sane!
I have to get back to planning. We are heading to San Francisco in August for vacation and work. Then, in October a trip to Las Vegas for my best friend’s wedding. I am the maid of honor so I have a lot to plan — bachelorette party, bridal shower and keeping you both busy while I am away. This is all making my life extremely busy. Have to get back to work! More updates coming soon…..
Ran 2.7 miles in the hot sun because I couldn’t get out until Daddy woke up. It was a great run despite being a little hot. I came home drenched in sweat, showered and was still sweating. Time to get in the water to cool off before a BBQ lunch at my sister’s house. Kids get to play (tire themselves out), then nap and reconvene later for fireworks. Can’t wait!
We took a trip to Disneyland on Father’s Day because our passes don’t allow us to go at all in July and it was a good way to celebrate.
Successful trip! Any trip that ends up with these two knocked out is a success in my book. We had a great time and the parks were not too crowded. We were able to see two parades, go on countless rides, eat yummy food, share a Ghirardhelli butter pecan ice cream cone. So delicious!
I’ve been making a huge effort to get us out the door for a run every morning. I need this time and I love how it makes my day run so much better. I have to keep it up.
It’s not what you think. I am not taking a break from running, but just the opposite. It’s actually National Running Day and I decided that we would have a little family fun run. Well, just Chace and I. Harper would come along for the ride of course. Chace gets very excited when I start to get ready in my workout clothes, which is practically everyday. He always asks if we are going for a run and some days we are and some days we are not. That is just how it goes in our house. I love wearing workout clothes even when I am not working out. Anyways, today he asked and I said yes and quickly got him ready too. He’s a toddler afterall. His attention span is not that long and he can quickly get disinterested so I had to take advantage of his excitement about our impending run.
I strapped Harper into her infant seat in the BOB and watched as Chace was expecting his turn next. Well, that never happened and we headed out the door and as I started running, he paused for a second before he realized that I meant that he was running with me. He was so excited! His little legs worked hard to catch up and then it was an all out sprint for him. It was fun to see him turn back to make sure I was still running and I would speed up a bit to catch up. It was a perfect time to run because it was still cool out and not many people leaving for work or on the road. The sidewalks were empty and all for Chace.
We didn’t go far, but we did make it to the park with a few stops here and there. I was so proud of him and he was so happy. I think it tired him out and we ended up having a relaxing day playing with cars at the park. Normally, Chace runs all over the grass, plays frisbee or slides down the slide over and over. Today, the toy cars slid down the slide instead of Chace. I positioned myself at the bottom and Chace was at the top. He would let them go and after they flew off the slide I would run them back to him so we could do this over and over again. A fun little game that lasted a good 15 minutes.
In honor of National Running Day, besides just running, we are also signing up for a race. I am looking for one that I can run and then hopefully Chace can take part in a kids run too. I’ll keep you posted on what we decide! While I didn’t run that far today, it was important to just get out and run, enjoy my running partner, and have a good time.
