Not So Good News

Harper caught with her tongue out.

Harper caught with her tongue out.

I was hoping there would be good news on the house hunting front but unfortunately we were outbid again. This time we were number 2 and that just makes me feel defeated. This was house #12. Yes, we have put bids on 12 houses so far. That just boggles my mind because that means there have been 12 houses that we were interested in raising both of you in and more importantly making lasting memories as a family in. This housing market is not working well for us. I feel defeated. We have spent so much time visiting houses, inspecting them, thinking about the right number to offer and then inevitably getting the “Sorry, we went with someone else.” It’s hard to handle because I tend to envision how the rooms will be decorated, how we will enjoy the backyard as a family and how holidays will be spent as both of you grow older.

Granted, we are looking in areas that are very competitive because of the school district, proximity to the city and lovely, safe neighborhoods. All of the houses have had 15-28 bids on each and every one. That makes it very difficult to win unless you are the highest bidder and have cash! (The last 4 houses have gone $100K or more over the asking price!) It’s very hard but we will continue to look and hopefully one day our luck will turn around. If not, maybe I can win the Lottery and not have to worry about these crazy bids.

I just keep looking at you two and feel better knowing that no matter what, I am blessed.

Stopped at the park after the run.

Went for a nice long run after hearing the news. Cleared my head and realized it wasn’t meant to be. There is a house out there for us and we will find it when the time is right.

Disney on Ice and More House Hunting

PicMonkey Collage Dear C

Yesterday was not a typical Thursday for us. I ran in the morning and quickly showered changed and got both of you ready because we were heading out for more house hunting. Our fabulous realtor has a few great options for us weekly so we try and go to open houses on Thursdays if they are open or have a lock box. This frees up our weekends and we get to do other fun stuff. House hunting with two kids in tow is no joke. Getting there, taking you both out and walking around making sure you don’t tough things is a lot of work, not to mention having to tote around a heavy infant seat as well. I think I am getting in a good workout though. Luckily, most of the time Daddy can take a short break from work to meet us. Keeping my fingers crossed that we finally get a house soon! We headed home and since we were out and in the car for much of the afternoon, you both napped in the car. While I am grateful for any nap, this is not ideal. Chace needs a good 1-2 hour nap in a bed. Otherwise, he can be quite a bear for the rest of the evening. Therefore, I rarely leave the house after lunch because I value naps so highly.

Unfortunately, the afternoon was not a good one. Chace was moody, grumpy and almost nasty. Let’s just say there was a very big tantrum in the driveway as soon as we arrived home. Not fun! I had to keep you both busy and get dinner ready because the next adventure was about to start. Aunty had purchased tickets to Disney on Ice and we were all going. Luckily, as soon as they pulled up, Chace’s mood quickly turned around. We all piled into the car and headed out.

Chace was too busy to look at me for a picture! He loved the entire show while Harper observed for the first half, then fell asleep in my arms. It was such a good, entertaining show and while it was a crazy day, this made it all worthwhile. Oh and the fact that both of you slept the second you laid down and that’s a win in my book! I was exhausted as well, but enjoyed the peace and quiet for an hour before I passed out as well.

House Hunting And Getting My Fix

Dear Chace and Harper,

Chace – 2.5 yearsHarper – 3 months (almost)

What a weekend! While we have been looking for a house for awhile this weekend was packed with open houses, meeting with realtors and scoping out new neighborhood spots. I wasn’t really sure how you both would do with all of this but you surprised me. We were able to find a few great options and will keep our fingers crossed. One house in particular would be perfect for us because it is walking distance to so many fun, local spots which is just what I am looking for. We can strap you in the stroller and head out for a couple hours for breakfast or lunch and even stop at a coffee shop or park. It’s even close to the Thursday night Farmers Market we love so much. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that something happens and we hear good news soon!

Luckily I was able to go on two decent runs which definitely help start each day on a high note. I love that time with just me and my thoughts. It was a bit windy and cold but I can’t really complain. The scenery was beautiful and I was feeling pretty good. I am still getting back in shape since having Harper so these runs are not fast or particularly long, but they are satisfying and helping me get back in shape. Just have to keep it up!

On another just as exciting note, I scheduled my first fix! You might be wondering what I am talking about…Well, Stitch Fix that is. It is hopefully the answer to my shopping (or lack there of) prayers. With two kids, I haven’t been able to fulfill my shopping addiction as much as I would like. If I go shopping it’s usually to Target or the grocery store. While I love both places and can take you both with me each time I go, it isn’t the same as going to my favorite stores, trying on clothes, shoes or purses. The answer to my prayers is a great service that has a stylist pick out clothes for you based on your shape, style, lifestyle, and size. You don’t have to keep all the items and only pay for the ones you decide to keep. I can’t wait to receive my first fix in March. You can sign up and fill out a profile and then wait a few weeks for the first fix to be scheduled! I will update after I receive my first fix. You can sign up too! Stitch fix might be the answer for you too! It’s great if you need a stylist but don’t have the time or money to hire one.

Love,

Mom
